Is Christmas For Me?

As I walk around the decorated streets lit up for Christmas, pass the doors with pretty homemade wreathes, hear the sounds of joy-filled songs, and see the busy malls full of stressed out moms,I wonder… Throughout this season, do people stop and think… Is there more to this season? Is there a missing link?

Maybe you’re reading this and wondering if the historical events surrounding the Christian Christmas celebrations actually affect you. Or maybe you know someone who is contemplating this, and perhaps you could share this message with them?

Christmas is FOR you.

For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. – John 3:16

You see, Christmas is all about God coming to this earth in human form as Jesus. “Emmanuel, God with us.” To give us life.

He came for you. To save you. To rescue all of humanity from darkness.

…but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger – Luke 2:10-12

Maybe your response is, "I don’t think I need saving." Well, I don’t know about you, but I make mistakes everyday that I need saving from.

Mankind has chosen to love himself, to love things, before God. We do it everyday. We are narcissistic in nature—we’ve turned our backs on God over and over. But there is good news!! He’s continually pursuing us, again and again. In fact, nothing we could ever do would change his desire to want to have a relationship with us. His love is the only true unconditional, unwavering love that exists in the world.

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. –Romans 5:8

So God came as Jesus on our behalf, lived the perfect life that we’ve failed to live, and then died on a cross to take the punishment we deserve for all of our wrongdoings. He did everything for us, so that we could have a clean slate that we don’t deserve, so that we could receive grace, forgiveness, and unconditional love from God.

Like any gift, all we must do is receive it. God is presenting you with the gift of a real relationship with Him this Christmas, unconditional love, grace, and forgiveness that promises us a perfect eternity with Him. That is where the true love, joy, hope and peace is found this season. In Jesus Christ.

He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever. –Revelation 21:4

Christ is for you. Will you receive Him?

Orientation Week!

What a week so far! Arrived here in Burnaby, B.C. early afternoon last Tuesday and my word, it is gorgeous out here! I don't think I would be so excited to see mountains. On Sept. 18-20, the team for this year and I went camping in Hope, an hour and half East of Vancouver and it was even more gorgeous than the city. Evergreens and maple tress at least 3-4 stories high. We were so high up in altitude, I swear, if you used a ladder, you could pull a cloud out of the sky. And to think, God just spoke all of this into existence! For the first few days, I wanted to come home. Back to my surroundings, back to my comfort zone. I felt like I wasn't being accepted into the group because I'm quieter than most. I felt alone. But I realized, it was a lie from the devil to get me to give up on the beginning of God's plan for me. When I got on the plane in Toronto, saying good-bye to my mom, my home, I wasn't nervous. When I had a layover in Calgary, still wasn't nerv...

Ask, Seek, Knock

WEEK 1 - Recognizing God's Voice with Joanna Pallister  WEEK 2 - The Nature and Character of God with Tanya Lyons Wow! what an amazing last 2 weeks here in Vancouver! There is so much to say, I don't even know where to begin. WEEK 1 The first official week of classes started with recognizing the voice of God. A week I thought would be hard, since I haven't God speak to me since telling me that I am going to YWAM. But, I prayed about it and opened up my heart and willed myself to let God do His thing. And of course, He did! One of the first questions Joanna asked us was "when was there a time in your life when you didn't recognize God's voice?" Keyword being recognize and not heard because we all hear God's voice, we just realize it's Him. Joanna asked us to bow our heads, close our eyes, sit in complete silence, and just...listen. At first, with my overactive mind, I was thinking about lunch, how silly this exercise was. "I haven...

More Than A Conqueror

Hey Friends!, This post is long overdue! I was struggling to find the words to express the adventure of Thailand and then there was a turn of events that has made it even harder to write this post. I'll just get straight to the point...I was sent home. 3 weeks before outreach is suppose to be over.  Back in December, when the team and I first arrived in Pattaya, I was having a hard time spiritually (may have mentioned that in previous post, "Hope Is..."). In a moment of frustration, weakness, and selfishness, I had chose to leave the premises of where we were, go to a restaurant, and get a beer. Though, non-alcoholic, but it was the appearance of drinking. I also had a butt of dirty cigarette. "Don't drink, smoke, or go out alone or you will be sent home. No negotiation." .................................... The training leader for YWAM Vancouver and the co-leader for this DTS came to visit us on our last location, Mae Sot (may-sought). I had a one-o...
